I almost thought that the pow days were over by now but I was wrong. Last week it was +30 C and I was swimming in the lake but then the weather changed fast and yesterday was an amazing day on the mountain.
We got all the good runs done, Laub, Steinberg and Galtiberg and the snow was great.

I finished up my AK trip with way to many down days so my legs were not in top shape when I got home to Engelberg.
With the deep snow pack a lot of places has in the Alps this season it’s set up for a great late season.
The storms has been piling up lately so the last week has been really good. I got very surprised the other day when it was possible to ski Galtiberg all the way down to the valley and had great snow for 1500 meters and the last 500 meters were nice and slushy. Before that we had done 5 Steinberg in perfect cold snow without a break so my legs were done after those 6 runs and about 8000 vertical meters.
The best thing is that there is almost no people around and I left my heavy backpack at home every day. The only camera has been my iphone or my pocket camera.

We got off to a good start here in Haines with a few solid lines and good weather. We mixed up the crew a bit because Stephan had to sit out a day to rest his shins after a hard landing. Zack Giffin joined the regular crew members Johan and Carston for a day and I don’t think he was disappointed after seeing him ride some great lines.
At the moment we are waiting for Bryce Philips to get up here and hopefully we get a small reset with snow.

In route to Haines

I’m sitting in Juneau waiting for the last short flight to Haines. Like always I’m here with Stephan Drake, it’s our 7th year up here together. Johan Jonsson is waiting in Haines as he came in early this morning and our filmer Ben and the last rider Carston Oliver is probably sitting on a glacier close to Haines waiting for the clouds to clear so they can get a plane ride out to meet up with us in town.
I keep you posted with more photos and video as soon as we get out in the mountains.

I have been bad at updating the blog lately for different reasons but one of them is because it has been really good in Engelberg so I have been out shooting and riding a lot.
One of the riders I have been working with a lot is local Engelberg skier Lars Windlin. He pretty much know every corner of the mountain and very few people will be able to keep up with him when he is flying down.
He just released a short edit from this season in Engelberg. Check it out and enjoy good snow, big cliffs and fast lines.
Here are a few shots of him as well, the best ones will be saved for later.

THE ride

I’m back in Engelberg again after a very good trip to Georgia. I’m happy with the content we got and I’m sure you will see the story in different magazines next season.
After one day on the mountain in Bakuriani we wanted to go early next morning to Tbilisi to get a full day there before going home.
We asked our hotel to get a shuttle for the next morning with enough space for our gear.
When it showed up it was way to small so they had to get a new one, this time they said it was a minibus so we were happy about that.
After an hour the old shuttle we sent away came up the hill towing our new minibus because it had the worst tires ever.
At that point we kind of understood that the 2h ride would take a bit longer.
What we did not know was that it would get to be one of the most funny shuttle rides me, Johan and Patrick ever had.

Georgia

I have been in Georgia for 5 days now and it’s been great. I got the call from Patrick Vuagnat a few weeks ago regarding this trip and I got stoked on the idea straight away. We got Johan Jonsson on the team as well and nothing is better then to go on these a bit more unknown destinations with two good friends.
We have been shooting a lot and had a few really good sunset sessions in Gudauri with good result and today we moved to new resort called Bakuriani. It’s been snowing all day so we’re hopefully getting some fresh pow tomorrow.
Everyone has been super friendly where ever we have gone so I can really recommend to come here.

It’s turning out to be a really good season here in Engelberg, the snow keeps on falling with sunny breaks in between.
When it cleared up the other day we had got plenty of new snow. I went up shooting with the local rippers Lars Windlin and Piers Solomon and got some really good stuff. Lars decided to hit a huge cliff in Steinberg and it all went very well.
Day three of sunshine we wanted to do an early morning session. The face I have been shooting a few times now looked ready and we really wanted to get it right when the first morning light hits it. I got Lars, Piers and local snowboarder Bimba to join so we sat the alarm on 04.20 AM and started skinning from town at 05.15. We got up in time to get the sunrise and I’m really happy we did it.
Right now it’s snowing hard again so it’s going to be epic tomorrow.
